Before moving to Finland for my PhD at the University of Helsinki, I spent years teaching English in international schools and crafting handmade brass jewelry as a passionate side hobby. I’ve always found joy in creating with my hands, but one vision stayed with me for years: seeing the Northern Lights.

When I finally arrived in Finland and witnessed the aurora dancing in the sky, something shifted. I felt inspired to turn that magical moment into something tangible—something wearable. That’s when the idea for a new jewelry line was born.

With the support of my partner—a music producer, designer, and constant source of creative energy—we began experimenting with polymer clays like Cernit and Fimo, searching for ways to capture the beauty of the aurora through shape and color. After months of sketching, sculpting, and refining, we created our first collection: vibrant, fluid, and full of meaning.

But MoodyLab is more than jewelry. It’s a response to a deeper need.

As I faced the challenge of finding work in Finland, I realized I wasn’t alone. Many newcomers, like me, were struggling with unemployment, isolation, and financial pressure. That’s when we decided to grow MoodyLab into something bigger—a community-powered brand that empowers others to earn, share, and shine.
